Our mission
Senior dogs deserve evidence-first answers.
When a dog moves into its senior years, owners meet a wall of conflicting advice: forums swearing by one supplement, blogs dismissing it, product pages promising the world. Sorting through that wall alone is exhausting, and the stakes are real โ both a dog's comfort and an owner's budget. PawElden exists to replace that wall with three honest verdicts and the sources behind them.
What PawElden does
- Three-tier verdicts. Every symptom guide sorts advice into โ Works, ๐ค Uncertain, and ๐ซ Don't Waste Money, so you can see at a glance how strong the evidence is before you spend a cent.
- Tier-1 sourcing. Medical-adjacent claims trace to veterinary schools, professional associations, and peer-reviewed journals โ never to product blogs, vendor pages, or forums.
- A senior-dog care calculator. A practical planning tool that helps owners work through day-to-day care decisions for an aging dog.
What PawElden does not do
- We do not diagnose. Guides describe patterns and signs; the diagnosis belongs to a veterinarian who has actually examined your dog.
- We do not prescribe. No amounts, no schedules, no medication guidance โ ever.
- We do not claim veterinary review. Our in-house editorial review follows published veterinary guidance; an independent veterinary review program is in preparation.
How our content is reviewed
Every guide passes a structured self-edit against the site template and an internal evidence review before it is signed off for publication. The complete rules โ verdict framework, source tiers, wording bans, update policy, and affiliate integration โ are written down in our Editorial Policy, and we hold ourselves to them page by page.
The Paw family
PawElden is part of the Paw family of dog-care sites from the makers of PawScale.
Who runs PawElden
PawElden is run by an independent publisher โ not a veterinary clinic, and not a product company. The site exists because the senior-dog information gap is real: owners face expensive, high-stakes decisions against a wall of conflicting advice, while the sources that should anchor those decisions sit scattered across veterinary schools, professional associations, and the research literature.
We are not veterinarians, and the site says so plainly. What we do instead is disciplined compilation: every guide is built from Tier-1 published sources โ veterinary school client-education pages, peer-reviewed studies, and professional association guidelines; every claim carries its citation; and every draft passes a documented evidence review against those sources before publication. Where published guidance doesn't support an answer, we say so rather than fill the gap.
Editorially, PawElden is published under the PawElden Editorial signature. You can challenge anything we publish at hello@pawelden.com โ corrections and evidence challenges are part of the process, not exceptions to it.
Transparency about how pages are made
Content is produced with editorial tooling and human review; AI is used as an assistant under human editorial control, and no guide is published without the review chain described in our Editorial Policy.
